Try as I may....

You know, when I first decided that making soap was something I wanted to do, I had NO idea how it would invade every part of my life. What began as something to dabble at all too soon became a complete & total obsession, just ask my husband.

As someone who never had time for a hobby, I thought, "this might be fun..." Little did I know that so many moments & just about all the extra space in our home, would become dedicated to soapmaking. Not to mention all of the other lovelies that I create & some yet to be created.

I am a mother & wife first, but I can tell you that the need to create is always hovering. I still have a full time job outside of the home & with 2 girls, a husband, a dog & a shameful number of cats (mostly working feline). I am often asked how I find the time to do it all? I just say that you have to love it. To be honest, it is my own substitute form of therapy. Not necessarily more cost effective, but a heck of alot more fun. Tons of sampling & "R&D", as tough as it may be at times ;), just add to the madness. The sweet smell of creation is a bonus as well!

So you see, try as I may, there is no cure for my soapmaking bug....

Put yourself out there.....

I've been doing alot of thinking about what it takes to get things moving. Whether it be at home, at work, or in your ambitions arena. So many times we ask ourselves, "what if?" and then just file it away for later. This year I have promised myself that I would step out & speak up. I have worked diligently to create an exception product & spent countless hours racking my brain on how to make it even better.

So keep an eye out, it may be tomorrow or next month, but soon you will see the Three Chicks label somewhere near you....

Enjoy!!

Soybean, lovely soybean.

Who would have ever thought that the extremely versatile Soybean would start out as such a beautiful, lush, delicately leaved plant. As you can see by the picture posted, the Soybean crop lends itself to a beautiful, almost velvet like landscape. I live in a largely agricultural area & have often taken for granted the crops growing as I fly by on the County Roads or Highway. That is until I find myself passing the Soybean.

My husband has always found this amusing about me. Especially since, from the day we met, I have had the opportunity to appreciate several different forms of crop, especially since this is what he primarily does for a living. The choices range from Rice, Milo, Corn, Cotton & recently the Soybean.

So the next time you pick up a bottle of Vegetable Oil at your local grocer for that next batch of soap or enjoy an order of Edemame at your favorite Japanese restaurant, remember the beautiful Soybean plant & the abundant gifts it has to give.
